Company anniversary events that bridge year one and year ten

A milestone is the one event with a story already written: yours. The trap is that the story only belongs to the people who were there, and most of the company was not.

When to book

Anniversaries run on the date you were founded, and teams book two to three months ahead. Milestone years, the fifth, the tenth, the twenty-fifth, get planned earlier and spend more than a recurring event.

What teams ask for

  • A version of the company story that includes people who joined last month.
  • Something to keep: a recap, a certificate, a picture that goes in the deck.
  • Leadership in the room, opening it, not presenting through it.

What to steer clear of

  • A slideshow of old photographs. It divides the room into those who recognise them and those who do not.
  • Anything that reads as another holiday party with a different label.

Questions we get

What actually gets customised for an anniversary?
Usually the story: the arc is rewritten around your history, your milestones and your own people as characters. Branding and in-game leaders are the lighter tiers under it.
How long before the date should we start?
Two to three months if you want the story rewritten. Ten business days is the floor for a customised build, three for a hosted game off the shelf.
Do you have an anniversary case we can read?
Yes. An iGaming studio ran their anniversary for four hundred people as a fully customised game: 89% took part against a 75% target. The numbers are on the homepage.

  • Playrix

    The brief
A global mobile-games studio wanted an event their people would recognise as theirs, not as a vendor's template with a logo dropped on it.
    What we built
Austin, their own character, rebuilt as a playable NPC: he greets the team, sets the tasks and reacts to what they do.
